[She looks him in the day for a few quiet seconds before nodding. She knows they should probably talk more about this- will insist on it later, making it up to him- but he's right, somewhere safer would be better.]

Right... [A deep breath as she leans her forehead against his.] Thank you...

[Still, as they say that... is that a voice coming from deeper in the caves?]

[ naoto hummed. he liked it when makoto showed him affection. it made the idea that he didn’t deserve happiness fade into the background and allowed him to just enjoy the moment. ]

[ and then his ears perked up. that was… very familiar. He turned towards the source, ears straining to hear more. ]

“-oto! I know you’re here somewhere!”

[ naoto looked at makoto, hope clear in his eyes. ] Oh, I thought I heard Raquel is—

[ now it was definitely closer, and it was a voice he definitely recognized. the hope he had in his heart was growing more and more, and now he couldn’t deny it. ]

Makoto, I gotta go see— I have to know!

[Makoto, meanwhile, was being a good girl and closing up the cafe for the half day before enjoying the carnival herself, but then... well, so much for Sober Naoto's prayers of Makoto not finding out.]

[ It takes a bit of time for Gwion to make her way down to Camelot. She lives in Celliwig and has a job to bring home the bread, after all, but she manages to come into the Cafe Magnolia as invited on one of her days off. She does shoot a quick text back to Makoto to let her know about 30 minutes ahead of arriving, at least. For now, she's staring at the menu and trying to decide what kind of tea to drink. ]

Recommend me something!

[ She calls out, hoping to get the attention of whoever's behind the counter. ]

[The call has Makoto's head perk up just as she's busy finishing wiping down a counter, and she's quick to wave and dash behind the cashier's station.]

Hey, welcome, Gwion~! So our special-tea this month is Citrus Lavender. It's sweet but refreshing, especially iced, and it pairs nicely with our Dessert of the Month of madeleines: we have plain, matcha, lavender, and pineapple! We've got plenty of other teas and treats too, though; what flavors do you like?

No on the iced, I only like it hot. I'll try the flavor though. Scones and jam?

[ She puts her hands in her pockets, looking around to see what other snacks they might have. ]

[She'll get started on brewing a pot of the former behind the very well-stocked dessert counter. Along with the madeleines and scones, there are also delicate and colorful macarons, pies and tarts in a wide range of shapes and flavors, and cakes ranging from a rich chocolate mousse to a simple but beautiful coffee cake. Basically anything sweet someone wants with their tea is there; business has been fantastic since Naoto first opened it up, and he and Makoto have always been creative and ambitious with their baking. If Gwion looks at the menu, there are even a couple of Celliwig-style offerings to go with the flowers Makoto brought here from the summer solstice celebration, including raindrop cakes in different sizes.]
